I had big expectations going into this one. Loving the Legend was one of those rare debut novels that just hit. It stuck with me. I still think about Sid (who I’ll cheers for forever) and Ty, who brought so much heart and softness to their story. So naturally, I was keen to dive back into the world Kit Grey built and Scoring the Player, Chasing Rings didn’t let me down.
This time we’re following Arnaz and Salem, and honestly? I loved them. Arnaz has this quiet charisma that sneaks up on you and Salem is all grit and grace. Their dynamic just worked. There was a slow build, a bit messy in all the best ways and full of that layered grown-up kind of romance that hits different.
I’ll admit I did have to flick back a couple of times. There were moments where I struggled to keep up… whether it was the pacing or just my brain short-circuiting from too many late-night chapters, I’m not sure. But even when I lost my footing I never wanted to stop reading. Their story had me hooked. (And in fairness, it may have been a me problem).
I loved seeing their characters grow, not just as a couple but individually too. Kit has a way of writing people who feel real. You get the sense they have lives outside the page like you could run into them at a bar and actually have a yarn with them. Or bake a cake, which is right up my alley. And for any author, let alone an author who has only published two books, that’s a rare skill.
If you were a fan of Loving the Legend, you’ll feel right at home here. And if you haven’t met Sid and Ty yet? Fix that. Start there. You want to meet them before they cameo in this book. But then dive into Scoring the Player, Chasing Rings. Kit Grey is definitely not a one-book wonder. Better yet for me, she’s just getting started.
And look, if she wants to give the rest of the team their own books, I’ll be the first in line. Just saying.
