Loving the Legend by Kit Grey

Some books stick with you, and for me, Loving the Legend by Kit Grey is one of them. I’ve read it twice now, and I still can’t stop thinking about it. It’s the kind of story you come back to when you want a romance that feels genuine and heartfelt.

At its core, this is a romance between two basketball players, Ty and Sid. Ty might be the main character, but for me, Sid is the star. As we’d say here in Australia, Sid is someone you can really “barrack for.” They’re steady, loyal, and bring a grounded strength to the story that balances Ty’s mental health struggles.

The chemistry between them is electric but also layered with vulnerability, making their connection feel real. Kit Grey doesn’t just give us romance for the sake of it; she gives us characters who grow, who fight for their happiness, and who make you want to cheer them on every step of the way.

This isn’t a high-drama story, nor does it need to be. It’s about two men figuring out who they are on and off the court while falling for each other in a way that’s honest and quietly powerful. Whether you’re into sports romances or just love a good MM love story, this one is worth a read.

Sid, in particular, was a great MMC (Can you have MMC’s in a MM romance?). He’s the kind of character who makes you believe in the best parts of love and friendship.

What’s even more impressive is that Loving the Legend is Kit Grey’s debut novel. The writing feels confident and polished, and the story is packed with heart. I’ll eagerly await whatever Kit releases next. If this book is any indication, we’re in for something special.

If you haven’t picked up Loving the Legend yet, do yourself a favor and dive in. Then, like me, you might just find yourself reading it again—and still thinking about it a few months after you picked it up the first time!
